0008287: Pseudo MS Word reports generated by TestLink don't open after MS Word 2016 upgrade
Our company recently upgraded MS Office 365 to last version.
Before that, we had no issue to export HTML and Pseudo Word reports generated by TestLink (we only had am issue with pictures not visible - see mantis 0008193)

Since the MS Office upgrade, we are not able to open the Word document generated by TestLink when there are pictures included in the test case steps.
We get a message that Word has experienced an error trying to open the file.

We are using MS Word 2016 MSO (16.0.9226.2114) 32-bit: version 1804
with TestLink 1.9.16

Do you have any clue how to solve this? we cannot unfortunately go back to previous MS Word version. Thanks

In TestLink 1.9.16
- Create test cases with pictures in description and test case steps.
- Assign the test cases to testPlan1
- Select Reports and Metrics
- Select Report Format = Pseudo MS Word
- Generate "Test Plan Report" for testPlan1 by including Test Case scenario.
- Try to open the generated report with MS Word 2016

Pseudo word docs, are just like this a sort of 'poor workaround'.
File is just an HTML , when it is downloaded we produce the specific header to fool the browser.

Workarounds => if you do not need to edit it => use HTML and generate a PDF

I'm going to try to think is a different thing can be done

Yes, we can at least convert HTML to a PDF.
Just to let you know that if there is no picture in test case description or test case steps, it is working but unfortunately most of our test cases include images.
Thanks again for troubleshooting this new issue.

Just to have right info:

do you have an issue with pictures when converting HTML to PDF?
if yes please add this note to your original ticket about word and images

No issue when converting HTML to PDF.
(because pictures are already visible in the HTML report generated by TestLink)
